This accessibility statement applies to the public facing website at https://theeasylunchcompany.co.uk/ and the online ordering system at https://orders.theeasylunchcompany.co.uk/.

This website is run by The Easy Lunch Company Limited.  We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Easy Lunch Company Limited is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-accessible content listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Many links are only distinguished by colour. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.1 – Use of Color

There are many instances where colour contrast is not sufficient to meet AA success criteria. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3 – Contrast (Minimum)

Many links to not indicate when they have focus, making them difficult to use without a pointing device. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.7 – Focus Visible

Many non-essential images containing text do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 – Non-text Content

By September 23rd 2020, we plan to address all these issues and will ensure any newly added content meets the WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.

Disproportionate burden

There’s no way to skip the repeated content in the page header (for example, a ‘skip to main content’ option).

The online booking system contains a meal selection form which cannot be operated solely with a keyboard.

Payment forms are provided by a third party (WorldPay), we cannot be sure that they meet accessibility guidelines.

We’ve assessed approximate cost of fixing these issues, but we believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations.  We will make a further assessment on this later this year.  In the meantime, you can contact us by phone or email to set up meal bookings.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or other documents we publish will meet accessibility standards or will be replaced with web pages.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
